BRUXISM—Treating teeth grinding

Stress and other factors can lead to involuntary teeth grinding. This puts excess pressure on the jaw, which can wear down your teeth, cause headaches and other negative symptoms. The solution? Botox® to treat the jaw area.

Bruxism—what is it?

Grinding your teeth damages your teeth and your temporomandibular (or jaw) joint. Due to the constant movement, the masticatory (or chewing) muscle expands and as a result also increases the force exerted on the teeth at night during grinding and jaw clenching. This leads to damage to your teeth as well as headaches and other related problems.

How can bruxism be treated?

Injecting Botulinum toxin A into the masseter muscle can greatly reduce its size. This significantly reduces the pressure on the teeth and your face can return to its original beautiful shape. The size of the muscle decreases within 2 to 4 weeks after the treatment and the effect lasts for approx. 6 months.
